Why rainforests are important

More than half of the world's tropical rainforests have already been destroyed. Today, we continue to lose an area of more than 30 soccer pitches of rainforest per minute. These unique ecosystems are extremely important - not only for the diversity of species they contain and the local communities that make them their homes, but also for us in our own countries.
